The ALAHZIE Agency presents:

GEOLOGY OF MAN-CAUSED MINERAL FORMATIONS

A group of Russian researchers headed by Prof. Vladimir A. Naumov, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Director of Natural-Science Institute at Perm State National Research University, has been for over thirty years conducting exploratory research entitled “Geology of man-caused mineral formations” (here and throughout as MMFs). The investigations enabled accumulating practical knowledge and summarizing geological findings capable of re-appraising the resource base of the Earth in respect of formation and use of MMFs. A new global market appears and, as a consequence, a new path for the civilization to develop. When efficiently using the designed technologies and algorithms in managing the natural and man-caused processes, we pursue a global idea, namely the idea of organizing deposits with pre-set characteristics for the generations to come. The rational use of natural resources generated by the mankind will enable eliminating the growth barriers for the mankind.

The volume of MMFs on the Earth amounts to over 30 teratons (301012 tons). More than half this volume is comprised of mineral processing rejects. Our team has been studying the structure, compositions and formation conditions of the MMFs with the aim to maximally use extracted substances and to control their quality. During mineral mining, the primary metals contained in MMFs as salts (oxides and sulfides) undergo transformations and conversion into other mineral forms. When minerals degrade, these salts convert into solutions and penetrate into the hydro- and biosphere of the Earth. Instead of being extracted and used, the salts remain in MMFs and disturb the natural equilibrium of bio-, hydro-, and atmosphere of the Earth. Improper appraisals and improper mining of mineral deposits generate environmental problems in mining industries”.

A) Liquidation of own illiteracy

The research team has designed an algorithm for extraction of noble metals. This algorithm, when introduced, is capable of solving economical, ecological, and geopolitical challenges, and of providing the rational use of unlimited resources of the Earth as the already amassed and currently accruing MMFs. The conducted investigations have resulted in experimental models, namely:

1) as regards solid mineral phases: gravitational concentrates containing heavy metals (gold, quicksilver, arsenic, copper) have been extracted on territories of Ural, Yakutia, Yenisei mountain-ridge in Russia, Yukon and Manitoba in Canada;

2) a plausible method for conversion of metals from MMFs into solutions;

3) mechanisms for sorption/extraction of metals (incl. nano-sized gold) from solutions;

4) express-methods for appraisal of noble metals resources in MMFs; economically profitable extraction technologies.

B) Appraisal and forecasting of economical and environmental consequences with use of the methods designed

Economical aspect of the mineral mining has to be regarded while taking into account both traditional mining technologies and liquidation of environmental consequences accompanied by extraction of heavy metals from any media including solutions and gases, and subsequent conversion of metals into concentrates. From temporal point of view, the economical aspect of MMFs recycling may be divided as:

(a) short-term perspective: (i) obtaining of heavy metal concentrates from substrates, (ii) conversion into solutions, and (iii) extraction of most required components (Au, Ag, Cu, Pb, Zn, Hg, As, etc.);

(b) medium-term perspective: the use of substrates for constructional and infrastructural purposes;

(c) long-term perspective: the use of substrates and of the mined-out spaces in economical activity, restoration of relief to be maximally adapted for bio-, hydro-, and atmosphere of the Earth.

C) Creation of reasonable equilibrium between technosphere and biosphere to avoid man-caused and environmental catastrophes on the Earth

On the basis of our findings and the designed methods, we are capable of organizing a rational and efficient way so as to quantitatively and qualitatively control (and to limit) the workable mineral deposits. A new global order governing either restriction of mining objects or more complete mining will serve as the management criterion. The prerequisite laid down in this order is provision of national (territorial, through the notion of limiting environmental capacity of a territory) safety in using the unlimited potential of the Earth.

D) Creation of sustainable and rational development of civilization. As a result, humans will acquire a real possibility to deliberately control natural processes

Gold-bearing complexes are the first-order objects in using the MMFs. By the example of peculiarities in formation of gold-bearing MMFs, we became aware of incomplete registration of the forms wherein gold can be found. We analyzed variable conditions and possible changes in compositions of MMFs. The gold-bearing MMFs contain solid, liquid, and gaseous phases. With our registration method enabling to completely explore the entire complex of gold-bearing phases, the existing approach to the mining of mono-mineral deposits may be ignored. At this point, our method suggests efficient techniques to extract gold. Special attention is paid to the ratio between the forms of gold-bearing phases and the extraction techniques. Basic extraction techniques and presumable methods to govern formation of gold concentrations were analyzed.
